[ Cheers and applause ] -I never had a problem with people labeling us.

But I can never describe what we are.

I feel like we're constantly changing and evolving, you know, with what's going on in our lives or what we're influenced by in the moment.

And I think what always connects what we do together is our voices.

-I think the idea behind "dancing through the darkness," so to speak, is going through difficult times, you know, globally with the pandemic and lockdown and personal difficult times, and I think at a certain point when you realize that you're -- it's not gonna be over in a couple months or -- You know, and it keeps going, that was -- I think we were about four songs in when we said, you know what?

We need to make a dance track to just -- I mean, we can talk about what we're feeling.

This can be cathartic.

But we need to dance to it.

'Cause otherwise we'll just not make it, you know?

Not make it through however long the stretch will be.

And that kind of became the theme for the rest of the record, to help us through it and hopefully other people.

And it felt like when it came out that that's what people wanted, you know, that energy and that, um... permission to dance, you know?

-Mm-hmm.

That's the beauty of songwriting.

Once you write something, as personal as it can be, it becomes somebody else's, and, you know, that's the sort of -- The relief we get from it most of the time is just in writing it, and then it's out in the world, and people -- You know, it becomes other people's song, and I love that.

-We have this unique look into one another's lives.

We can actually sort of speak from -- on behalf of the other.

And I get to stand up there every night with my best friend and musical partner.

It's really a special gift.
