I mean, I know how much the club means to Annie, and I know I'm doing the right thing by handing it over to Harry, but...

I mean, I know it's crazy, but, uh, I--I'm gonna have to make my peace with him, for Annie's sake.
[Sighs] Just don't want to lose her friendship.

[Door closes] Heard about Carol.
Oh, yeah.
Well, listen, it was never my intention for her to be taken off the case, but now that she's gone, I could do with your help.

Well, I've been doing some more digging into Oliver's bank account.
The jewelry purchase was a ring.
All right.
When was that bought?
The purchase was made the day before he was murdered, but we're getting the receipt sent over.
Ah, OK. Well, that's the engagement ring sorted.
What about the rest of the money?
Now, where is he getting that?
Have we got access to the Grant Company accounts?
No, the account responsible for the deposits have been closed, but we're working on getting the statements.
But we've got something else.
When running number plates, we found another car that visited the track in the last few weeks.
The car belongs to Sarita Grant.
♪ Please, come through.
♪ It's a very difficult time for the family.
Ridley: Yes, thank you for seeing us, Sarita.
What is this concerning?
We're here to get to the bottom of Oliver's spending.
You are not the only one.
Well, we think you know a little more than you're telling us.
His personal accounts show expenses totaling close to 300,000 in only a few months.
Well, that's news to me.
Well, we got a warrant, and we went through your accountant to access your expenses account.
An account you closed days ago, but we recovered those deleted files from your computer server.
Ridley: You transferred company money to cover Oliver's losses.
Why?
You know what the money was for.
I had to help my son.
So you siphoned off company money to what, pay for his expensive habits?
Oliver's car wasn't the only car that visited a go kart track, a known drug hotspot he used.
You were there two weeks ago.
Please, take a seat.
Oliver had racked up debts with these awful people.
Was constantly asking me for money.
Well, in the end, I couldn't just keep agreeing to it.
So you went to the track.
And then what happened?
Well, I met this man there--Matt.
It was really humiliating, but I just wanted the issue dealt with, so I paid this Matt whatever he said that Oliver owed him and then prayed that that was the end of the matter.
And then Lewis noticed these huge losses across the accounts and raised the alarm, but you hid the truth from him.
I mean, why did you do that?
Lewis is my son.
I love him, but my trust in him was not the same as before.
I mean, what would make you lose trust in your son?
He turned his back on me, to keep in with his cheating father's good graces.
What do you know about this property purchase made by Oliver's personal account?
Oh, Oliver said that was a purchase on a--an apartment in Cheshire.
He wanted it for Amelia, for the two of them to have a fresh start.
Uh, but if their relationship was strong, why the necessity for a fresh start?
Getting engaged to Amelia was what was best for Ollie.
He was in with a bad crowd, giving them everything-- money, taking them out.
I didn't want him turning into his philandering father.
Do you have, uh, any idea where Amelia is right now?
♪ Ridley: Hi, Amelia.
Do you mind if I ask you some questions?
♪ Can you tell me why you confided in Lewis?
I mean, why tell Lewis about Oliver's drug problems and not Sarita?
Was it because you knew he had a soft spot for you?
He always did, but I wasn't taking advantage of him.
Yes, but... you knew that he'd do anything for you, which makes me wonder, what were these two brothers fighting about?
I mean, were they fighting about Lewis exposing Oliver's drug problems... or were they fighting about you... Amelia?
I wanted to give Oliver a wake-up call.
What, by igniting the flame... of a previous jealousy?

No, Lewis knew what Oliver could be like.
He treated me like dirt.
And he liked the party lifestyle--drinks, drugs.
God knows who he'd been with.
If I'd ever questioned him about it, he'd just go on the attack.
Lewis felt he could treat me better.
He wanted me to leave Oliver.
And be with him.
So whose idea was it for you to tie the knot?
I mean...was that what you wanted?
I knew Sarita encouraged it.
She wanted our families to do business together, and us getting married was her way of encouraging my family to buy a stake in her business.
But you went ahead with it anyway.
I was in love with Oliver.
I mean, that ring he bought you.
Surely that proved that he was in love with you.
Oliver didn't buy my engagement ring.
It was a family heirloom.
Sarita gave it to us.
Oh.
I see.
♪ Hmm.
But the apartment that he bought for both of you, surely.
What apartment?
Sorry, I--I don't know what you're talking about.
We only ever spoke about buying a family home together.

Well, he did sometimes rent places temporarily as a pied-à-terre if he wanted to be more on-site with his developments.
And was he renting one currently or...
The last place I remember him renting was in one of his new builds.
Well, look, you've... [Sighs] told me enough, Amelia, for me to... ask you this question, I think, but did you ever think that Oliver was having an affair?
No, never heard any concrete proof.
But when I asked him about it, he admitted it.
And did he say who with?
He wouldn't tell me who it was with.
Part of me didn't even want to know.

At the engagement party, he promised he would change... ♪ that things would be different once we were married.
♪ I believed him.
♪ [Cell phone ringing and vibrating] Hi, Carol.

No, I'm not OK. Jack stormed out the house over a day ago, and I haven't seen hide nor hair of him since.
I've been in all the usual places.
I've looked for him everywhere.

Ridley, I'm--I'm worried.

All the units are looking for him, even up at the track.
It's not like Jack not-- not to call or text, not for this long.

It's the fact that you're off the case.

[Exhales sharply] I can't just do nothing, not with Matt out there and Jack still missing.

So, as things stand, Matt isn't our only concern.
Lewis is also in the mix.
So what's Lewis' motive?
Well, Lewis was not only jealous about the family business, he also had notions of Amelia.
I interviewed her.
Apparently, he thought he'd be better for her.
And he may have been right, because I think Oliver might have been having an affair.
With who?
I got a purchase receipt from Darren for the ring that Oliver bought.
There's an extra charge for an engraving of the letter "A," as in Ava Tunstall.
Is there any more evidence to support that?
Well, Ava's apartment.
Oliver was paying for it.
So why get engaged to Amelia?
Well, I think Sarita was holding the business over his head, you know, the business was in trouble, and the association with Amelia and her family was just too good an opportunity to miss.
So you need to go and speak to Ava.
Yeah.
And I'm coming with you.
OK. ♪ [Chatter and laughter] ♪ Jack!

You can't just walk out of the house like that and not come back for days and not answer your phone or answer your texts.
I mean, Jesus!

Oliver had a big mouth.
He told Matt about a place he'd bought in Cheshire, and once Matt knew about it, he threatened Oliver that he was dead if he didn't pay the interest.

So Oliver decided to go and confront Matt at the rave, is that it?
Yeah, I suppose.
And you really, really didn't see Oliver at that rave, did you?
I wish I'd have known he was coming.
I would have stopped him from going to see Matt.

I found it on the boat, and I'm pretty sure forensics will confirm that it's the murder weapon.
And the only other person who had access to that boat, apart from me... is Jack.
You certain?
Yeah.
[Sighs] Does Goodwin know yet?
Not yet.
What I've got to do is going to tear me apart.
I'm sorry.
I'm gonna be the one to bring him in.
You tell Goodwin that, yeah?
♪ [Distant siren] [Taps counter] ♪ [Sighs] ♪ Carol: Paul.
Carol.
Hi, Jack.
We have reason to believe that you hid a gun in Mr. Ridley's boat, and we have reason to believe that that gun was used in the murder.
Now's your opportunity to explain what you know about that gun.
I don't know what you're talking about.
I didn't hide any gun.
From what we know, nobody else could have hidden that gun.
Only you.
I told you, I know nothing about any gun.
[Sighs] Fine.
Jack Farman, in view of what you've said, I've no option but to arrest you on suspicion of the murder of Oliver Grant.

♪ [Door closes] [Machine beeps] Goodwin: Commencing interview with Jack Farman.

Also present: Alex Ridley, suspect's solicitor; appropriate adult; and suspect's mother, Geri Farman.
Ridley: OK, Jack.
Are you ready for this interview to begin?
The gun that was found in my boat... a boat that only you had access to, that gun was used to kill Oliver Grant.
Did you know that?
Did you see Oliver at the rave?
Come on, Jack.
You need to talk to us.
You're no hardened criminal, Jack.

♪ [Groans] Darren... [Wheezing] call an ambulance.
Darren: On it.
DC Lakhan to Control.
Ambulance urgently required.
Oh, God.
Matt, it's Ridley.
Woman on radio: Received.
Ambulance dispatched.
Who did this to you, Matt?
Matt, can you hear me?
Oliver's brother.
Oliver's brother Lewis?
[Gasping] Yeah.
[Knock on door] ♪ We're here to see Lewis.
[Police radio] ♪ Well, you beat him up pretty badly.
Why'd you do it?
Oliver told me about him.
He was who Oliver was going to confront.
That's why I gave him the gun.

I hung around the go karts.
I followed him back to his place.
He was making a run for it, putting stuff in his car.
And what happened next?
I had a wrench.
I saw him come outside his stash house and...I hit him.
Marched him in.
I wanted him to talk, but as soon as we were there, he tried to come at me by surprise.
He--he told me, after Ollie, I was next.
And after me, he said he'd do in Ollie's backstabbing girlfriend.
He didn't mention her by name, did he?
No, but he laughed at Oliver being dead and... Sarita: Oh.
I just lost it.
Justice was taking its course.
What justice?!
My brother is dead!
Darren: Lewis Grant, I'm arresting you on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defense if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court.

Ridley: Wendy.
[Door closes] Matt's bags were found in a car nearby.
He was in the middle of making a run for it.

Well, he must have known we were closing in on him for Oliver's murder.

We did sweep the house.
Forensic tests on Matt's clothes found no gunpowder residue.
What?
The Fingerprint Bureau didn't find his prints on the gun?
That was my next update.

What, so Matt didn't fire the gun?
Well, why did Jack tell us that Matt gave him the gun, then?
Is he lying?

Ridley: All right, Jack.
Everybody in this room cares about you, especially your mum.

Now, we found Matt Brandon at his stash house.
He was really badly beaten up.
He's now in hospital.
I also know that you lied to me about who gave you that gun... [Sniffles] 'cause we now know that Matt did not kill Oliver Grant, so that means that all the evidence, Jack, is pointing towards you.
[Whispers] Did you shoot him?
Did somebody force you to shoot him?
Look, Jack, I know you've been through a hell of a lot for a young person.
You're vulnerable, you've been sucked into the workings of a gang, but there comes a point where you have to look after yourself.
You're running out of road here.
You are gonna force us to charge you with murder.

At any point did you realize that that was a gun?

Thought it was just drugs.

I knew what it was when you told me about Oliver.
By then, I was too scared.
I was too mixed up in it.
I couldn't tell you about what was happening.

♪ [Distant siren] ♪ Ava: He gave me this ring, told me that whatever happened, we'd always be together.

It wasn't just about my looks with him.

So how did Matt fit into the picture?
Matt knew about my parties.
He'd pay me a bit here and there to bring him customers.
I needed the money.
I couldn't afford my rent.
So you procured clients for him.
Then you met Oliver.
When I met him at his photo shoot, said he loved to have a good time, bit of gear sometimes.
I knew he had money.
I introduced him to Matt, and Matt loved him.
You'd hit the jackpot.
I bet you had a nice little finder's fee in it, didn't you?
I didn't think me and Oliver would start seeing each other.
I tried to end it.
Didn't want him to know I was making money off him, but Oliver wouldn't stop.
Give me everything to stay together.
And then I fell in love with him.
I really loved him.
I wanted to come clean.
[Sobbing] I couldn't.
Yeah, because you were making so much money off him, isn't that right?
I tried to get Oliver to stop meeting him.
Then what happened?
That's when Matt turned nasty.
He started to charge Oliver interest for all the gear he gave him up front, had his boys threaten him, follow him around.
So that's why Oliver showed up at the rave.
I told Oliver not to show up.
But he did.
[Distant cheering] Ava, voice-over: He was sick of Matt's threats.
Couldn't take it anymore.
Ridley, voice-over: Oliver told you that he was gonna confront Matt at the rave.
And you met him on the lower level, just the two of you.
He was upset.
He was furious.
So the only thing that happens now is you getting out of my life and going back to that council estate you came from.
You don't mean that.
I do.
Oliver, no!
Ava, voice-over: There was no way I was going back to where I came from.
Matt told him everything, that I was the one who found him, that he was just our target.
Oliver: Ava, don't be stupid.
Ava, don't touch that.
Ava, voice-over: But now I was involved with Matt, feeding Oliver's habit.
You told me you loved me.
Love you?
You're just a talentless, stupid, working-class girl.
You're nothing to me.
[Cocks gun] Put the gun down.
Ava.
Right.
We--we can talk if you want.
I'm fine doing that.

Ava, can't you just think for once?
You don't want to do that.
♪ Ridley: And that young lad, Jack?
How did you get him to hide that gun for you?
I didn't know who else to turn to.
[Sobs] I knew Jack liked me.
[Sniffles] He'd do anything I asked.

Ridley: But the courts will take everything into account.
