Forensics won't be finished for a while yet.
We'll need you to come to the station and provide us with an inventory of anything that's missing.
Oh, absolutely.

Carol: Good.

It's just through that arch over there.

They made quite a mess, a mess we can work with.
Unlikely we'll lift any fingerprints.
Assailants were wearing gloves.
Two high-res cameras, one of which appears to be broken.
I'll get a tech team to examine what footage we do have, but all three of the assailants were wearing motorcycle helmets.
It's got to be the same gang.
This time, things didn't go quite to plan.
We lifted traces of blood from this smashed display case.
It must be from one of our assailants.
We'll do some analysis for genetic markers, see if it gives us any matches.
Any other leads we can work with?
The shop was fitted with an intruder spray.
It was activated when an employee pressed a panic button.
We've got a couple of shoe treads.
The clothes would have been covered with it.
A DNA signature that would tie them to the crime scene.
They are effectively marked men.
[Siren in distance] Carol: You've been arrested on suspicion of a criminal offense, a raid on a jewelry shop on Menton Street, which took place this morning at 9 a.m.
Suspect: I want to see a doctor.
You've had a thorough medical assessment.
You've been signed off as fit to be interviewed.
I could have been killed.
You were absconding from a crime scene.
I was nowhere near that robbery.
Carol: We've got witness statements that attest to 3 assailants leaving the shop in question, one male suspect who matches your description.
That could be anyone, though, couldn't it?
Two other suspects unaccounted for, one of which was your mate and who left you behind.
Goodwin: We believe this robbery was gang-related to the lads living in Framley.
3 similar raids in the past 12 months.
You gonna pin those on me, too, yeah?
We only need to charge you with this one.
And the level of violence that was used in this robbery-- possessing offensive weapons.
I mean, you're looking at a sentence of at least 10 years.
10 years?
But, I mean, no one was gonna get hurt.
I don't think a jury would see it that way, Ryan.
Someone paid you to do this job.
You tell us who's behind this.
What's in it for me?
Carol: The fact that you cooperated would be on record with the CPS, and that might hold some bearing when it comes to pressing charges.
You need to give us some names, Ryan.

I'm requesting this interview be suspended until I have an opportunity to confer with my client.
Carol: But he's already been briefed by a police station representative.
An unfledged, sleep-deprived paralegal.

Police pulled in Ryan this afternoon.
Robbery in town.
They're saying someone tipped the police off.
And you think it was Ryan?

I mean, maybe someone's got to him.
Look, I know I haven't been around for a while, but if you ever need to talk, I'm here.
[Door opens] [Indistinct chatter, laughter] Man: Belly's rumbling, lads.

Goodwin: Ryan Stanford.
Pulled him in connection with the latest robbery.
He was all set to give us some names before his brief arrived and advised him not to.
If we can get Ryan to talk, we could probably shut down the whole operation.

But if you want my take on this, you charge him with the robbery and then get him remanded in custody.

I got his hearing set up for tomorrow morning.
That intel on the robbery, it wasn't on the mark.

His brief advised him to plead not guilty.
When the case went to trial, she was very persuasive.

We need an update ASAP.

Goodwin: Mr. Ridley's been across this operation for the past few months.
He'll be assisting with this case on a consultancy basis.
OK, so, Operation Limestone-- an ongoing investigation into a series of violent robberies with suspected links to organized crime.
We have a group of potential suspects under surveillance.
Er, no breakthroughs as of yet until yesterday morning's arrest of Ryan Stanford.
Have a look at the mug shots there.
Known associate of Liam Manley, one of our prime suspects.
Ryan was all set to talk.
And then this morning, he was killed in a hit and run.
Darren: Possible reprisal killing.
We could be looking at one of their own.
Ridley: Yeah, you'd think they'd be keeping their heads down at this point.
Carol: The stolen items will be fenced and sold on to clients, usually abroad.
Goodwin: These lads on bikes are strictly small-timers.
Still need to find out who's pulling the strings.
It's the middlemen.
They never get their hands dirty, do they?
Goodwin: What else did the robbery give us?
Darren: Mopeds were stolen.
Tech are working on Ryan's phone.
CCTV?
There was one camera that was out of action in the shop.
Oh.
That was convenient.
Darren: We've spoken to the owner--Mr. Bentham.
He runs a chain of jewelry shops.
Ridley: Harry Bentham?
Carol: What, do you know him?
Yeah.
A bit of a face about the club.
Darren: So, this tip-off we received on the robbery.
It didn't come from Ryan Stanford.
That intel was gathered from an anonymous source.
Look, our number-one priority is finding out who killed Ryan Stanford.
So, let's run with the probability that these two crimes are connected.
This is now a murder inquiry.
Let's go.
Wendy: Injuries were consistent with a hit and run, multiple fractures to the right femur and pelvis, severe internal bleeding.
Whoever ran him down was traveling at some speed.
Could have been a random accident.
Wendy: Acceleration marks on the road.
Vehicle drove straight at him.
No deviation.
Ridley: So, this was premeditated.
Carol: No cameras, no witnesses.
Most hit and runs leave behind some paint evidence.
His clothing was tested for residue traces.
We found flecks of white paint on Ryan's trousers, and they were contaminated with dirt and grease.
But if we can match it to a paint code on the database... Carol: It could give us some leads to the make and model of the vehicle.
Wendy: We'll do some IR analysis.
It's the undercoat layer structure that gives us all the answers.
And white paint is notoriously uniform.
So we shouldn't get our hopes up.

They were bought by various shell companies, but one jumped out at me.

Terence Michael Sansom.
Friends call him Terry.
Ridley: Born in Framley.
Made his money in haulage.
Goodwin: Perfect front for criminal activity.
Carol: We're gonna need more than that.
Goodwin: Take a look at his previous.
Arrested and charged 10 years ago for handling stolen goods in a robbery that cleared out the auction house.
Lawyers got him off on a technicality.
Goodwin: He was also questioned by the Dutch police in connection with the murder of a Rotterdam assayer 5 years ago.
No one was ever charged, but there were rumored connections to the Dutch penose.
Well, someone you wouldn't want to mess with.
And someone capable of Ryan's murder.
Think he's our fence?
Only one way to find out.
Let's get into it.
So, we wanted to ask you some questions about a man named Terry Sansom.
I advise him on managing his business assets.
Ryan Stamford's murder.
I'm assuming, as his brief, you've been brought up to speed.
I'm under no obligation to reveal details of any of my clients.
We could always do this down at the station.
Ridley: He gets arrested for his part in a robbery.

Which makes us wonder whether Terry tipped you off.

and we're back in here with a warrant on the suspicion of your involvement with money laundering.
Well, that's a libelous accusation.
Either way, nobody's gonna touch you, and all your lucrative clients are gonna disappear.
Ryan did some work for him over at the depot.

I got a call saying that he'd been arrested.

So, if he gives us some names... risk is you're gonna be implicated.

Well, you better hope so.
Because if we find any evidence connecting Terry Sansom to those robberies... we're gonna bring you down with him.

Well, he might have done some hours in the warehouse.
Somebody was saying that the haulage industry is struggling these days.
We adapt.
You know, streamline profit margins, pull in our hauls.
Apparently, there's a lucrative sideline in fencing stolen goods.
I'm a busy man.
Now, let's cut to the chase, shall we?
Ryan Stanford gets arrested for his part in the jewelry raid.
He's all set to talk, and he ends up dead the next day.
And you think I had something to do with it?
Well, we pulled up your record.
