About the Show
Backyard Farmer is a co-production between Nebraska Public Media and Nebraska Extension. The longest-running, locally-produced television series in the nation, “Backyard Farmer” is celebrating its 67th season and first airs Thursdays on Nebraska Public Media with rebroadcasts on Nebraska Public Media Create.
The program was created by George Round, former University of Nebraska public relations director, Wayne Whitney, former Nebraska Extension horticulturist and Jack McBride, Nebraska Public Media’s founding general manager. The show’s format of answering viewer questions remains a cornerstone of the show’s success.
Every year from spring to fall, our panel of experts deal with topics from insect pests, disease, turf, fruits, and vegetables, as well as landscape design and general horticulture topics. The program consists of a panel of experts dedicated to helping you find solutions to your lawn and garden questions.
